Judiciary To Get $6.9 Billion in FY 2010 Appropriations Congress has completed action on the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2010, a six-bill consolidated spending measure that includes nearly $6.9 billion in fiscal year 2010 appropriations for the federal judiciary. The act provides just over $5 billion for court operations. The funding level will allow those court units experiencing caseload increases - primarily district clerks, bankruptcy clerks, and probation and pretrial services offices - to hire necessary staff in FY 2010. The act also includes $977.7 million in appropriations for the judiciary’s defender services program, $452.6 million for court security, and $289 million for courthouse construction.
